Vera Bradley was founded in March 1982 by Patricia Polito Miller and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard. Named after Baekgaard's mother, Vera Bradley began when the longtime friends were inspired while awaiting a flight in Atlanta, where they noticed a lack of feminine-looking luggage. 

The Fort Wayne, Indiana company produces a variety of products, including handbags and accessories. Vera Bradley bags come in many styles and sizes, as well as many different colors and patterns. There are wallets, cosmetic cases, sunglass cases and totes. 

For over 20 years, Vera Bradley has had a loyal following of customers who not only look forward to the new fabrics and styles, but who also appreciate the function and quality that is synonymous with the Vera Bradley name.

Local Candy Maker Jon L. Stopay Candies Expands Business Online

Plains, PA – February, 3 2011 – Local candy maker Jon L. Stopay Candies recently expanded their business by creating an online store to meet the demand for online and convenience ordering. By expanding their business on the internet, Jon L. Stopay Candies hopes to reconnect with long time customers who have moved away from the area and still crave the famous Peanut Butter Chiffon®, Peanut Butter Eggs and their other hand-made delights and confections.

The inspiration for the business started in 1946 by Papa Jon L. Stopay, who created a recipe for a scrumptious confection consisting of a melt-in-your-mouth peanut butter center covered in rich milk chocolate. News of this delectable candy spread quickly throughout the area, which led Papa Jon to open his first candy store in Edwardsville, PA. Over time, the business grew in popularity and expanded into a larger store and showroom in Plains. A tradition for generations, candy lover’s young and old continue to visit the showroom in Plains to purchase their favorite treats and delights.

Since opening in December of 2010, the online store has noticed positive results throughout the holiday season and anticipates continued growth through the Valentine’s Day and Easter holidays. Business owners Jon and Mary Ann Stopay feel that the online store will help spread the word about their candies to areas outside of Northeastern Pennsylvania. In addition, the owners hope to give former customers that are no longer in the area a chance to purchase their favorite treats and confections in a safe, secure and trouble-free manner.
